Mustang Fuse Box

Q. My concern involves a 1969 Ford Mustang convertible, 8 cylinder, 302 engine. While installing a new starter, I caused an electric "fault" to occur which rendered the convertible top and security alarm system useless. I removed the front dash to trace both system's wires to look for the blown fuse, but could not find them.

Also, I had two mechanics briefly look at the mustang and they could not find the fuses, either. What is your recommendation to conduct the necessary repairs on this systems?

Thank you,
Tracy

A. If you look under the steering wheel you will see a cover. Remove the cover and the fuse box is in there. The top fuse is probably blown. I don't believe the 1969 Mustang came with a factory security system so it's probably and aftermarket system. That I can't help you with.
