GMC 4X4 Speed Sensor

Q. Hello, I have a 2001 model GMC Pickup 4x4, 4800cc. Automatic transmission, fuel injection and ABS brakes. My vehicle has a digital odometer with trip meter and P R N D 3 2 1 indicators.

Could you tell me what kind of sensor does my odometer have? I couldn't find a speedometer cable running through the engine compartment when I open the bonnet. Is it a magnetic pickup or something like that? And where is the exact location of the sensor??? Is it at the wheels or in the transmission??? Please tell me exactly where it is located. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Girish

A. There is a vehicle speed sensor in the transfer case, just before the drive shaft.
