F-150 4WD Shift
Q. I have a 1998 Ford F-150 with ABS, 4.9, 4x4 with shift on the dash. Lately I have difficulty shifting into 4wd. The transmission will shift into 4 wheel low, but will not turn the front wheels. I play with both the shifter and the dash mounted selector and sometimes it will lock in. Any Ideas?

DRA. I have seen this before. What happens is the 4WD shift motor gets stuck. I have, and I got this fix from some Ford Technicians I know, removed the shift motor and reinstalled it. Then it starts working properly again. I think it's just a bind somewhere and by removing and reinstalling it, it gets rid of the bind and works.
