Safari Radio Problem

Q. I own a 1995 GMC Safari van. It has a Vortec 4.3 liter V-6. It has a 4 speed automatic transmission. It has about 82,000 miles on it. It has ABS brakes, power steering and brakes, windows and locks. The problem is the cigarette lighter doesn't work, the interior lights don't work, every time you start the van the clock is reset to 12 o'clock and the radio resets to 1400 am.

The fuse under the dash isn't blown, I checked it already. Is there another fuse block in the vehicle.

Thank you for taking the time to read my e-mail.

A. That's the only fuse box in that car. The one thing they both have in common is the 20 amp CGR LTR/DM fuse. There is a splice in the orange wire coming from the fuse box and since both the lighter and radio memory are effected, the problem would have to be before the splice which, in effect, narrows it down to a bad fuse or a bad fuse box connection. I would test the fuse with a test light. Many times a fuse will look good visually, but be bad electrically. If the fuse does test out good, pop the fuse box out and check the orange wires behind it. One of them is most likely disconnected or has broken.
