Tape Deck And A CD Player

Q. Hi again, Here's my second question. I have an AM/FM tape deck installed at factory in my 1996 Chevy Lumina LS. It is the model with the auto tone feature. I have a CD player and would like to use one of those tape adapters to play it in the car, however, it will not play. The tape just goes from forward to reverse and then ejects.

The owner's manual states that these do not work in this radio. Short of buying a whole new radio which I really don't want to do, has anyone figured a way around these decks to use these adaptors?

Any help would be really appreciated.
Jackie

A. Hi Jackie, long time no see! We have to stop meeting like this, people are beginning to talk.

The problem is not with the adapter, it's with the stereo itself. Most are just not designed to use these adapters. Short of replacing the dash unit, there may be the option of an add-on unit. There are many types available and they do sound pretty decent. You can check them out at stores like Best Buy or Circuit City.

I guess I'm not being too much help to you today, huh?
