Pathfinder Power Door Locks
Q. 1992 Nissan Pathfinder. Power door-locks do not work. For several months the system would work for a few days and then not work for a few days. When I operate the buttons on the driver door I hear a dull clicking sound which sounds to me to be coming from the left rear inside the vehicle.
I do have a security system installed. When the system was working the power locks would lock at time of engagement AND would unlock all doors when activated to open the doors. At present I cannot unlock or open the rear hatch door but I can open the glass (rear) with the key. Also I cannot open the driver door with the key. I must open the passenger door and reach across to open the driver door-lock button. Owners manual does not show a specific fuse.

JohnA. The fuse for the power door locks is in the bottom row of the fuse box, second fuse from the right. It is a 10 amp fuse.
I don't know what you might be hearing from the left rear. The only door lock components back there are the rear door actuator and, if you have the SE model, the rear glass actuator. The power door lock module is under the drivers seat, next to the cruise control computer.
I don't know what kind of security system was installed or who installed it, but they must have put something in to control the door locks and perhaps this is what you are hearing.
Even if the power door locks are completely inoperative, you should still be able to unlock the door with the key. It's possible the linkage for the door lock has fallen off. You would have to pull the door panel off to check it out. While the door panel is off, check the sensor around the door lock cylinder. They did have a tendency to fall off and that will screw up the door locks.
