Forsa High Idle?

Q. Sir: make of car: 1988 Suzuki Forsa, 1 litre motor (not turbo) Mitsubishi motor, 180,000 kilometers (111,846 miles).

Problem: motor fast idles when first started, after it warms up the motor idles normally. Checked fuel filter, air filter, cleaned fuel lines, added product to eliminate any moisture in gas tank. Put a used carburetor on at about 150,000 kilometers. Would appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks for your time

Sincerely,
Lorne

A. I don't know Lorne, what you describe is normal for an engine during start up. Yor're supposed to have an idle of about 1500 rpm when first started and then it will drop to a normal idle of about 750 - 800 rpm when warm. If this is the case, then you do not have a problem.
