Buick Dash Goes Crazy

Q. 1991 Buick LeSabre, Ltd., 3800 engine, climate control air, power seats, power windows, P/S, 135,000 miles on odometer but fairly new engine (1 year).

Problem: when you turn on the lights (either parking or head lights), the speedometer quits, the bright light indicator comes on, the dash lights go out, the turn signal indicator arrows come on steady, and the turn signals will not flash.

Help - Have had it to a dealer once but at that time the problem was intermittent. It is now almost constant.

Thanks,
Robert

A. I'm afraid that I can't do more than state the obvious, you have a problem in the digital dash cluster. This is not uncommon with the GM digital clusters. Unfortunately there is no way to repair them, they must be replaced.

GM does have exchange/repair centers for these digital clusters and if you tell me what state you're in, I can send you the name and number of the center closest to you. Of course the dealer may be able to do the exchange for you and probably has exchange units in stock.
