Doing Some Chevrolet Cavalier Modifications

Q. I read an article that by increasing the resistance on the IAT Sensor it will gain more horsepower because the ECM will think that the air is colder thus mixing the fuel with the air a lot better. Could you please advise me on this and, if it is true, can you tell me the location of it so I can "fix" it.

Also I would like to know how to remove the speed limiter since I hate this thing, I want to take my Z24 to a track but this speed limiter will stop sending fuel at 105 MPH even though the speedometer says 110 MPH, could you please tell me where it is and how to "arrange" it.

  • 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24
  • 2.4 liter DOHC
  • Manual transmission
  • 60,000 miles
  • ABS brakes
  • P/S, A/C, Cruise control
  • Rack and pinion steering

Well, hoping that you can be of lot help,
Tino

A. First, there are aftermarket kits to do the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) thing you want to do. Second, the speed limiter is burned into the PCM and can only be changed by re-flashing it with a special program. I don't know if GM has this program or will release it to you. Again, aftermarket companies may have this for a price.
