Chevy Blazer Lost Electriacl Power, No Start

Q. My husband went over some train tracks without slowing down, a few seconds later the battery light came on and we coasted, thankfully, into a gas station parking lot. I say he hit something loose he says, of course, no that's not it.

Chevy Blazer Lost Electriacl Power, No Start

Anyway somebody gave us a jump start because it sounded like the engine wanted to start, my battery is two weeks old. But no luck, we had to get the truck towed. My husband took the alternator off to get it checked but the results were that the alternator was good. The battery also checked out okay. Any idea?

A. You may have melted a "fusible link" somewhere in the wires. Most are near the starter, but on the S-10 Blazers they could be up on drivers side fender. They are usually red wires with a black splice on them. All should have power on them.

Also, you may have a bad ignition switch. They had a lot of problems with these as well. Good luck.
