Chevy Cavalier Warning Lights All On

Q. I have a 1996 Chevy Cavalier. I recently had to replace the battery cables because they were shorting out. I have also replaced a melted butt fuse on the wire running from the clutch position switch to the hold in coil.

Chevy Cavalier Warning Lights All On

The car seems to run fine now, but the warning lights; coolant, check oil, ABS etc., lights seem to go off and on randomly when the car is Idling. I usually get the ABS light and the brake light, but if I let off the brake pedal, they go away. When the car is in motion, the temperature gauge stops working and the rest of the warning lights come on.

I have run diagnostics and so has my mechanic, and we both got no codes. I have also checked the battery voltage, which were 14.4 volts running and 12.3 volts cold. Does the PCM need to be reset/replaced? Could it be a problem with the voltage at the alternator?

A. I'm guessing you are talking about a melted fusible link at the starter solenoid?? Maybe more than one melted or you have a bad connection in one that feeds all the areas that are having lights come on. You really need a wiring schematic to make sure. I have see loose fuses in the fuse box cause some problems like this as well.
