Pontiac Grand Am Blower Motor Resistors
Q. The Oldsmobile Alero is for my cousin and the Pontiac Grand AM is for my girlfriend. The problem is that both cars have a problem with the fan selection control for the A/C.Numbers 1 and 2 neither work on both cars. 3, 4, and 5 all work fine. I heard that it was a relay and I've heard that the switch is what messed up and I'd have to replace the switch. If you can I appreciate your help and time you can give me.
- 1999 Oldsmobile Alero and 2001 Pontiac Grand AM
- Both 4 cylinder
- Both automatic transmission
- around 80,000 miles for both
- Fuel Injection
- ABS brakes for both cars
- P/S, A/C, Cruise control
Thanks,
CurtisA. Both cars probably need a blower motor speed resistor. These are a pain to reach. They are bolted under the dash forward of the the blower motor. If you pull the blower motor out first, you can see the bolts that hold the resistor in. They usually melt the resistors on the circuit board. Good luck.
