BMW 850i Life Expectancy
Q. Dear Vince, I was just wondering how many miles I can expect from my 1991 BMW 850i? It's currently at 127,000. Can I expect it to last till 200,000? And what are some things I can do to lengthen its life?

JackA. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect it to last for 200,000 miles and possibly more. That V-12 is a strong engine and should give you many more years of service. Changing the oil and filter at 3,000 mile intervals will be the best way to keep the engine going. All the stuff that hangs on the engine will have to be replaced at some point, but if you keep the engine itself clean and filled with the proper oil, it will be like the Energizer Bunny.
