Honda Civic EX Performance

Q. I've got a 1997 Honda Civic EX with a manual transmission and about 67,000 miles on it. I need to get brake and exhaust work done. I'd also like to make it a hotter car. So I figured this would be a good time to kill a couple birds with the same stone, so to speak.

I'd like to get the head a "street/strip port and polish", new air intakes, new exhaust system and cross drilled brake rotors front and rear. I've found some shops that are good at doing this sort of thing but most are on the west coast. I live in the boondocks about 140 miles north and west of Baltimore and Washington and 125 miles south and east of Pittsburgh in Cumberland, Md.

This Honda is my primary car and I don't want to trust it to some self styled motor head who's going to screw it up. While I don't have money to burn, I'd rather pay somebody who is experienced and will get it right the first time.

Can you refer me to any reputable performance shops in these metropolitan areas or, better yet, the closer - but smaller - cities of Hagerstown or Frederick, MD; Morgantown, WV or Johnstown or Altoona, PA? I'm especially interested in somebody with Honda/Acura experience.

Thanks, in advance, for your help.
Mick

A. I can't really recommend anyone in the areas you mention, not having personal experience with anyone there. The search I did didn't turn up anything useful either.

I have a couple of Honda techs in my Forum that may be able to help you. I would suggest posting your question there and you'll probably find what you're looking for.

Sorry I can't be of more help to you.
