Camaro IROC Z-28 EFI To Carburetor
Q. Vince, I have purchased a 1989 Camaro IROC Z-28 305 TPI and I'm swapping the blown motor with a 305 Carburetor because the TPI system is not working. If you have anything to help me with the swap of the electrical system that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
DaveA. Well Dave, swapping motors is easy, it's the wiring that gets complicated. What you'll need to do is to get the complete wiring harness for the donor engine along with the computer.
A job like this can be quite complicated and you have to be very careful how you do it. I have never done a swap like this and I generally advise against it. There just too many things that can go wrong. The best advice I can offer is to take your time and examine everything thoroughly. Get yourself some good wiring diagrams for each engine and compare them. That will give you an idea what needs to be changed and what you can leave alone.
