A "Sappy" Maxima
Q. I'm the happy owner of a '95 Nissan Maxima GLE. The car has been in Maine for a couple weeks and has collected a souvenir - pine sap droppings all over the beautiful finish.
How do I get it off? I tried baking soda & water on a small spot but that scratched the surface. There must be a chemical that will dissolve the pine but not the paint.
Help!
JimA. Pine sap has a tendency to eat into the paint, so even if you get it off, a mark may remain. I have used Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover with good results over the years. It will dissolve most hard chemicals and not damage the paint. After you get the sap off, I would recommend a good compounding and wax. This will blend in any marks in the paint and will offer protection to the paint from any future sap droppings.
