Moisture In The Crankcase

Q. We have moisture in the crank case. We have replaced the air/oil separator. We know there is moisture because when we remove the dipstick there is water droplets on it. The rubber hose coming from the chain case cover to the air/oil separator is full of white milky substance.

All the hoses seem to be ok and are attached to their correct places. Any idea on what the problem could be?

Thanks for your help,

A. That is a very common problem with the GM Quad 4 engine. Basically it's due to poor head gasket and cylinder head design. I worked part time at a used car lot and every GM car with a Quad 4 had the same problem.

If the PCV system is in good working order, then you are probably looking at replacing the head gasket.
