Chevy Lumina Fuel Pressure Regulator

Q. Have a 1990 Chevy Lumina car 3.1 liter V-6 and 115,000 miles. Car idles fine, the faster you drive the worse it runs. Has new injectors and new PCM, no help. Can smell gas in the oil. Am thinking Fuel Pressure Regulator? Any way to test that? And any other suggestions would be helpful.

Thank You...

Chevy Lumina Fuel Pressure Regulator

A. Fuel in the oil could be caused by a ruptured Fuel Pressure Regulator. There should be a small vacuum hose on the regulator. If you remove this hose, there should be no fuel coming out. If there is fuel in the hose it will be ingested into the engine when it runs causing a rich condition and could leak down into crankcase when shut off.
