Buick Century Vehicle Speed Sensor

Q. Vincent, I am trying to find the Vehicle Speed Sensor on my 2003 Buick Century and am not having any luck. It is equipped with the 3.1 liter V-6 engine, automatic transmission, and does not have ABS. I am trying to find a way to record the wheel speed with a laptop for some testing that I conduct using the vehicle.

Since it does not have ABS I figure the only other place to get the information is from the vehicle speed sensor. Oh, I am currently able to get the vehicle speed from the ECU via the OBD-II port but I can only read the data every ¼ second or so and I need to capture it at a quicker rate so I figure I can tap directly into the speed sensor.

Thanks in advance for your help.

A. The actual sensor should be on the transmission just above the passenger side axle shaft. It should have two wires going to it. It is driven off the output shaft of the transmission.
