Chevrolet S10 Has Stripped Spark Plug
Q. Hello, I have a question about my husband's truck. He has a 1994 Chevrolet S10. It is an automatic with a 4 cylinder engine and has about 120,000 miles on it. Well, among other things it was shaking when he drove it so one of our friends told him he needed to change the spark plugs on it, so he did.
Well, it seemed like one of the spark plugs would not tighten, but after trying it a couple of times it did. The very next day that same spark plug shot out. Now we have not been able to use it for days because we don't know what's wrong.
What does it mean when the spark plug shoots out? What do we need to change? Any suggestions? He thought that the thing you put the spark plug in might be stripped. If so what can we do about that?
Thanks!
MelissaA. STOP!!! Tow this to a competent mechanic to have the threads in the cylinder head repaired before it's too late. If you keep messing with it, you will need to remove the head to have it fixed or worse yet replaced. There is a repair kit called a heli-coil that can be used to repair this but it should be done by someone who knows how to do it.
