Chevy Lumina Euro TCC Solenoid

Q. My 1992 Chevy Lumina Euro stalls when coming to a stop after traveling at more than 45 mph. You've recommended to others with this problem that they disconnect the wire going to the torque converter clutch solenoid to troubleshoot the problem. My question is this. Is it okay to simply leave the wire disconnected indefinitely without risking damage to the transmission or torque converter?

Chevy Lumina Euro TCC Solenoid

Replacing the solenoid is a $600.00 repair job, something we simply cannot afford.

  • 1992 Chevy Lumina Euro
  • 3.4 liter
  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles
  • ABS
  • P/S, A/C, Cruise control
  • Rack and pinion steering

Thanks,
Greg

A. If disconnecting the solenoid fixes the problem without turning on the Check Engine Light, at this mileage, I would leave it alone. As for your quoted price of repairs look to another shop, maybe even a dealer for a quote, as I feel this is too high. Parts should be less than 100.00!
