Chevy K1500 Doesn't Spin After Rebuild
Q. I have an 1989 Chevy K1500 Pickup 5.7 liter. I just recently rebuilt the engine and got everything connected right. When I go to crank it over it cranks very slow for maybe 1 or 2 seconds and stops and you hear a buzzing noise. Also, the belt slightly slips afterwards. I checked all of the pulleys for problems also I have a new battery.
I tried taking the belt off and turning the crankshaft with a socket but would get little or no turn. I have tried everything I could think of to get it to crank normal but would get the same result. Any info would be awesome.
Thanks,
JakeA. Did the engine spin free after the rebuild? Try removing all the spark plugs so the compression doesn't slow it down and see if it spins by hand and then by the starter. If it doesn't spin over with the plugs out there's something too tight in the engine.
Rod or main bearings too dry? Did it get pre-lubed before turning it over? Sounds like a bearing to me.
