Saturn SL2 Running Rich - DTC 45

Q. Getting a "45" error code form the O2 sensor; high voltage, rich mixture. Engine stumbles on acceleration and sometimes dies when trying to leave from a stop. Exhaust smells like it is running rich. I have replaced O2 sensor and on the recommendation of the local parts house the Idle Air Sensor. Plugs have been replaced and problem is a little better but still there.

Any help would be appreciated

Saturn SL2 Running Rich - DTC 45

A. Chances are that it is indeed running rich and you need to find out why. Possibly a bad injector(s) or they could be clogged to the point of dribbling fuel. A cleaning of the injectors may help. You should start with a fuel pressure test to see if you have the correct pressure and that it holds. If pressure leaks down after the ignition is off you may have a leaking fuel pressure regulator. Hope this helps.
