Walk down any shelf of the auto parts store and there are dozens of products that claim to solve every engine problem. It can be difficult to find out which ones work and which ones are all hype. If your vehicle is leaking oil, you may head to the auto store to find a product that will stop the leak. Bar's Leaks Engine Oil Stop Leak Concentrate is one of the products on the market that claims it can halt a leaky engine and prevent future links. Find out if it really works.

A Product That Stops Engine Leaks

Bar's Leaks Engine Oil Stop Leak Concentrate was made to seal leaks that are caused by normal engine wear and tear. Sometimes engine oil seals and gaskets can shrink, harden or dry up. When they do, it can allow oil to leak through the engine.

The manufacturer claims that the product will not clog oil filters, as it does not contain particles. Within 250 miles or three days, they claim the leak will be a thing of the past. Add it to your engine oil every 6,000 miles to prevent additional leaks.

To use the product, just mix it with a factory-approved engine oil (that can include a synthetic mix). One bottle treats four to six quarts of oil. According to the company website, you may need to treat a leak with additional applications. After two applications without improvement, the manufacturer suggests consulting a mechanic.

Generally, most customers found that the product worked well according to reviews on Advance Auto Parts.

More Ways to Stop Engine Oil Leaks

There are other products on the market that claim to stop leaks just like the Bar's Leak product.

Blue Devil makes a similar product called BlueDevil Oil Stop Leak. The manufacturer claims it is the best product because it revitalizes seals and allows them to expand back to their original size and shape so they are flexible and can continue to create an effective seal in the engine. It is available online, including at Advance Auto Parts.

Those are just a few of the products you can use to try and stop an engine leak -- there are plenty of other products and solutions available based on your vehicle and budget. If you have any questions, consult a mechanic or visit an automotive store for more information.
