Chevy Van No Start

Q. My 1990 Chevy G20 van with 350 V8 won't start- It gets a spark and fuel, but the mechanic can't get it to start with the key- It runs if he manually operates the injectors somehow, but won't run off the key. Additionally, the check engine light does not come on, even with the key turned? Have replaced the computer, module in the distributor, fuel pump... nothing seems to help.

Help?

A. What you need is what's called a noid light. You unplug the injector and plug the noid light in. As you crank or run the engine, it should blink on and off, indicating proper function. If it lights and doesn't blink, the problem is between the injector and the computer, or the computer itself. If it doesn't light at all, then the problem is before the injector. Like a blown main power fuse or fusible link or a bad EFI relay.

And, as weird as it may sound, if the check engine bulb is burnt out, that may be the cause of the no start condition.
