Dodge Spirit Odometer Doesn't Work
Q. I have a 1991 Dodge Spirit 2.5 liter. I need to have it Maryland inspected. It will not pass because the odometer does not work. The speedometer however does. There is no speedometer cable on this car. It is sensor driven.

The speedometer and odometer are mechanical in they are visual readout, not digital. I originally thought replace the instrument cluster and I would be golden. I got one from a used parts dealer and replaced it. SAME PROBLEM!

My question is do you think I got a speedometer head with the exact same problem? Or is it possible the speed / distance sensor is able to go bad in that it gives speed info but not distance info?

A. I think you got a bad speedometer head. I would recommend returning it and see if they have another one. If not you will need to get one from the Dodge Dealer.
