Shedding Light on LED Work Lights

Thursday June 21, 2007
I'll never forget the cackling laughter of my friend as we strolled through the auto parts store one cool Thursday. We were trying to decide which flavor tree to hang on the mirror this week (we went with the pineapple) when it called out from the top shelf -- the LED shop light. Come on, white LEDs aren't bright enough to do anything, right? It's easy to make an LED turn signal or an LED traffic light. All they have to do is remain visible. But an LED that's bright enough to clearly light your way into the depths of auto repair seems tough to me.

Then and there I had to buy the LED shop light to see how well it would perform in a real shop condition. Put to the test, it came out ... well, you'll have to see for yourself.
