Older Car Parts, Hard To Find But Out There

I get a lot of questions about older cars and how to find parts for these antiques. In the days before the internet, we'd have a giant stack of catalogs, a drawer full of phone numbers and a long wait to find a part. Those days are long gone, and now you can find parts for almost anything instantly. This letter from Chuck is a good example:

Matt, I have a 1941 DODGE Military Model WC-1, half ton 4x4 pick up truck that I am restoring. I am looking for bushings for the shocks. I have pressed out the old ones (what was left) and am looking for new. Can you help? Thanks, Chuck

Chuck needs bushings. Seems simple enough, right? In this case, it wasn't bad at all. I work on Porsches not Power Wagons, but a little bit of Googling got me some good info in about 5 minutes. Chuck's bushings were waiting for him at VintagePowerWagons.com, and they were in stock. My point is this: Don't think it's a waste of time to scour the internet looking for a hard-to-find part. Google is your friend. The web is another important tool in your arsenal, just be sure to use it wisely!
