Concerning VW Oil Consumption...

Q. Several visitors have posted questions regarding oil consumption in Volkswagen 2.0 Liter engines. Although not in writing, a Volkswagen representative has informed me that up to one quart loss between oil changes is considered, by Volkswagen, to be acceptable.

Concerning VW Oil Consumption...

One visitor wrote that he expected this problem to worsen as time went on. I can confidently state, based on my experience as an employee of Volkswagen, that his oil consumption will lessen as time goes on. Usually around 50,000 miles oil consumption will rapidly decrease as the engine fully "seats."

As a Volkswagen owner, as well as employee, I have followed this problem carefully and found it to be relatively minor, although it can be a hassle. I hope this info can be of some use to you.

Regards,
Jeremy

A. Thank you for the information. Your observations can be confirmed by Ed in Volkswagen Jetta Coolant Sensors
